Volunteering

Here at WSL, we not only strive to involve our residents in the community outside of our four walls, but we encourage community members to join us as volunteers within the building. We are always looking for ways to extend choice and enrich the lives of our residents – our volunteers can help us achieve these goals. Volunteers at WSL help keep our community diverse and resident-focused by enabling us to offer more personalized services.

Volunteers can assist with a singular project or on an ongoing basis, whichever they prefer. Volunteers can become a resident’s buddy, teach a skill, provide a much-appreciated service (like reading aloud), or assist staff with key daily tasks (like transportation).

Examples of some specific opportunities include:

  • Resident Companion Assist a resident in making the best use of their day by providing encouragement, a hand with getting from place to place, or simple conversation.
  • Pet Therapy Provide residents with a meaningful opportunity to interact with animals.
  • Activity Guide Bring your talents to the forefront and bring fun to WSL by leading group activities.

If you’re interested in a multi-generational experience, if you’re passionate about seniors, or if you have a talent that you’d like to share or teach, support WSL and our residents! For current volunteering opportunities, contact us!

Please Note: Volunteers are required by state regulations to complete an application, background check, and a TB screening (which is offered at WSL).
