Press Release: Wentworth Senior Living Invites the Community to Its Tricycle Relay Race

Proceeds Help Walk to End Alzheimer’s Fundraising Efforts

 

Portsmouth, NH, September 7, 2017 — Wentworth Senior Living, a nonprofit senior living community well-known in Portsmouth for more than 100 years, today announced it will host a summer fundraising event. The 2017 Tricycle Relay Race will support its 2017 Walk to End Alzheimer’s fundraising goal. The event, open to the public, is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 12, at New Castle Commons, 301 Wentworth Road (Route 1B) New Castle, NH.

The event on September 12, will feature teams from Wentworth Senior Living, Glendale Dining, Portsmouth Police Department, Liberty Mutual, andUSS NH crew members competing in a relay fashion. The first team to successfully get around the park will be crowned the winner of the 2017 Tricycle Relay Race. Portsmouth Mayor Jack Blalock will be in attendance to support the teams.

Wentworth Senior Living invites you to join the excitement and cheer on participating teams. All donations from the event will contribute to WSL’s $5,000 fundraising goal for the Alzheimer’s Association.

“This event is special because it generates community engagement and supports funding efforts for a disease that touches the lives of many,” said Olivia Korpi, assistant vice president of marketing and admissions. “This event is only a small fraction of the continuous, passionate work we do to support the Alzheimer’s Association. WSL has offered memory care for over 28 years and today we provide Habilitation Therapy, a cutting edge approach to enriching the lives of those with memory impairments.”

In 2016, Wentworth Senior Living hosted its first-ever Plank-Off Challenge against Portsmouth and Rye, NH police departments. Proceeds from the challenge contributed to the organization’s $7,000 donation to the Alzheimer’s Association’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s, which exceeded its $5,000 goal.

The Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the world’s largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support, and research. The 2017 Seacoast Area Walk to End Alzheimer’s located in Portsmouth, NH occurs on September 24.
