Wentworth Senior Living, a nonprofit senior living community well known in Portsmouth, announced it will host a special event, Memory Loss Education with Alicia Seaver. The event, open to all community members, is scheduled from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Monday, April 23, at Wentworth Senior Living, 346 Pleasant Street, Portsmouth, NH.

Seaver, the director of memory care at Bridges by EPOCH in Nashua, NH, will discuss the signs and symptoms of dementia and how caregivers and health professionals can more effectively treat and understand those living with dementia. She also will reveal helpful communication techniques for participants to improve interactions with a resident or a family member with memory loss.

“As experts in the memory care field and as part of our nonprofit mission at Wentworth Senior Living, we strive to be a resource to our residents and their families, our staff, and other community members,” said Olivia Korpi, assistant vice president of marketing and admissions. “We hope participants will obtain valuable information for communicating and connecting with a loved one or resident suffering from dementia or Alzheimer’s disease.”

Seaver has over 20 years of experience in the senior living industry and is a highly sought-after speaker for her extensive skill set as a memory impairment specialist. She has accreditations from the National Institute on Aging and is a certified Positive Approach to Care trainer.

“We are very thankful that Alicia offered to dedicate her time to visit us in Portsmouth. She is a wonderful speaker who engages her audiences with her commitment to making a difference in the lives of seniors and their families,” said Korpi. “We hope this event gives community members the opportunity to form relationships with others who share similar experiences in caring for loved ones with memory impairment.”

If interested in attending, please RSVP by calling Olivia Korpi at (603) 570-7804 or emailing her at okorpi@wentworthseniorliving.org. Space is limited. Snacks and refreshments will be provided throughout the event.
