Wentworth Senior Living, a nonprofit senior living community well known in Portsmouth for more than 100 years, today announced it will host its annual summer fundraising event, the 2018 Tricycle Relay Race. The event, open to the public, will support its 2018 Walk to End Alzheimer’s fundraising goal. The race is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 25, on Pleasant Street in downtown Portsmouth, NH between State Street and Market Square.
The annual tricycle relay race is a wonderful opportunity to engage with community members and cheer on participating organizations. This year’s roster features a variety of returning teams including Glendale Senior Dining, Portsmouth Police Department including the Chief, crew members from USS NH, and Liberty Mutual. Wentworth Senior Living is thrilled to add Portsmouth Fire Department, Portsmouth City Council and the City Manager, Calypso, and Patty B’s Restaurant to its list of participants.
Wentworth Senior Living invites the community to join the excitement, witness friendly competition, and listen to tunes from DJ Jodi Duston. Delicious desserts will be raffled off after the race. Portsmouth Mayor Jack Blalock will reassume the role as Master of Ceremonies.
“This event holds a special place in our hearts here at Wentworth Senior Living because it supports funding efforts for a disease that impacts 5.7 million Americans. It is always so inspiring to see how the city of Portsmouth gathers together to support community initiatives,” said Olivia Korpi, assistant vice president of marketing and admissions. “As an organization, we have offered memory care for nearly 30 years and enthusiastically support the efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association as they continue to look for ways to improve the lives of those affected by dementia.”
The annual tricycle relay race is part of a year-round initiative to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Association’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s. In 2017, Wentworth Senior Living made a $7,400 contribution to the cause. If community members are interested in making a financial contribution, donations can be made through the following link for team “WSL Memorables,” http://act.alz.org/goto/wslmemorables.
